Honduras is located in Central America. Its northern border, between Guatemala and Nicaragua, lies along the Caribbean Sea. The southwestern tip of the country, between El Salvador and Nicaragua, borders the northern Pacific Ocean.

Honduras hosts a variety of attractions including beaches and coral reefs, historic colonial cities, Mayan ruins, and lush national parks.

Honduran tourism is quite diverse – it has a unique culture and archaeological history to explore and it boasts a wide variety of natural attractions within easy access for travelers. Honduras’ abundant natural preserves enchant the world’s most adventurous eco-and geo-tourists.

The national language is Spanish. English is often spoken in the Bay Islands. The climate is generally pleasant and temperate, with dry and wet seasons.

Honduras is in fact the home to a multitude of different cultural groups and living cultures, all existing in harmony. In addition to the Miskito Indians and many other Indio groups, there are the Garifuna people, settled in large groups in Trujillo and on Roatan, and several smaller settlements elsewhere in Honduras

Tegucigalpa, The Capital City of almost a million people centered around its cathedral, satisfies the cultural needs of its multicultural society with symphony, country clubs, and universities. San Pedro Sula is the second-largest city in Honduras

Just a brief and comfortable 90-minute ferry ride, or a 15-minute flight, away from the mainland lay the gorgeous Bay Islands. These islands offer a variety of choices for those traveling in Honduras and seeking the island life

They are located off the Northern Honduran coast and they consist of three main islands: Roatan, Utila, and Guanaja.

The Bay islands offer a unique cultural experience and they have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. They also have the second largest coral reef in the world, which creates gorgeous scenery for scuba diving and snorkeling.

Roatan is the most important island of the three and it is the most developed and visited one.

Utila is a small island famous for its affordable scuba diving programs. It is a very laidback town with minimal infrastructure but it makes for a great tropical and peaceful experience. Its coral reefs attract thousands of tourists every year.

Guanaja is a unique city with a great abundance of Caribbean pine trees. It is the second most important island of the three and has the highest mountain reaching 500 m. in altitude.

There are frequent direct flights to Honduras from all the Central American capitals and many destinations in North America, the Caribbean, South America and Europe. Most international flights arrive and depart from the airports at Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula.

Royal Playa Resort in Honduras is perfectly situated on the south shore of Roatan in Port Royal, with the national park surrounding the resort in back, and miles of beautiful reef out in front. Royal Playa Resort blends ecotourism with every day luxuries that are expected of upscale accommodations.
